Axial Rolling

Axial thread rolling heads are the most popular and affordable introduction to thread-rolling across a wide range of industries, and have opened the door to high productivity, combined with extreme accuracy for thousands of users across the world.

Newcomers to thread-rolling, equipped with conventional, sliding head and multi-axes CNC lathes, will enjoy the opportunity to drastically reduce their cycle times and improve their thread-quality at a fraction of the cost of buying bespoke thread-rolling machines. Axial thread rolling heads are also perfectly adaptable for use on manual turret lathes and cam-driven multi-spindle autos and thus have a place in almost any machine shop.

Equally suited to small, medium and large volume production, axial thread-rolling heads are indispensable to producers of automotive, aerospace and safety critical components, where the design brief invariably demands a rolled thread. Reductions in cycle-times, in comparison to single-point threading, are often so impressive that once converted to thread-rolling, many end-users will avoid reverting to back to using inserts.

Available in a range of sizes and capacities, axial thread-rolling heads can roll from M2 x 0.5, up to M30 x 3.5 using standard turret mounted models. Due to the end feeding action of axial heads, the length of thread that can be rolled is theoretically infinite, as the rolled component can pass through the hollow shank whilst being continually centralised by the 3 rolls.

This makes them ideal for use in the production of long threaded bolts, studs and tie-rods which are often very difficult, and sometimes impossible to produce by single-point threading methods. In fact the only limitation is the weight and diameter of head that any individual machine can accept.
